We have signed up to a project called ‘Blog the World Cup‘. This is a blogging project that has set up that will involve 32 schools/classes – one for each country in the World Cup. Each blog will be used by pupils to present information about the country and their team throughout the World Cup competition. Schools from all over the world are involved and our Year 5 pupils are loving being involved!

Below is a screenshot of the blog, click on it to get redirected.

Thanks for reading!

It’s not just teachers that mark our work at HeathfieldCPS, our friends do too! We have found a really exciting way to give feedback to each others work using ICT. We load our work into Voicethread and we then comment things we like about them and also things we think the author could improve on. We think it is great.

Here is an example form the Year 6 blog!

Please take 5 minutes to listen to some of our writing after 8 lessons on higher level VCOP work. We have been inspired by some amazing wildlife photography. Some of which can be seen in the montage below. Look out for adventurous vocabulary, adverbs used as openers, carefully selected connectives and Level 5 punctuation.

What a sensational assembly this morning! Well done to all Year 5 for all their hard work, thank you to all the parents that came in to watch and thank you to Miss Howarth for all her hard work in preparing it. Below is a video of the assembly. I’m sure all that watch it will agree that it was simply brilliant! It was great to see the assembly full of Science, Literacy, D.T. ICT and Geography too.

Well done!

On Tuesday afternoon we had the pleasure of a visit by Nicola Stables from Holmfirth Primary School. Nicola had asked to come and visit us to talk all about blogging. Nicola is a keen ‘blogger’ as you’ll see in a minute but was keen to discuss school blogging as she was looking to build her own school blog. Well, what better place to come?

Nicola blogged about her experiences here at Heathfield. You can read that post here:

I was very proud of the pupils at Heathfield Primary School as their enthusiasm shone and remains to shine. I can honestly say that the enthusiasm shown during Nicola’s visit is evident in everyday life at Heathfield. Well done everybody!!

Please use the pad below to write a FANTASTIC story together. The column on the left is where the story will be written, the column on the top right is where you can write you name and age next to your colour (this will help people know who you are!) The column on the right below that one is where you can chat through your ideas with each other.

Please note that people all over the world can see this! Please make sure you try your best with you spellings and punctuation. The title of the story is: After I Melt!

Please click here if you prefer to work with the pad full page.

Here’s how it works:
Someone will start the story, you can watch people type and you will see the typing appear like magic! If you feel you can add more detail or up level some words then you can click on a space or a word, delete it, or add some of your own. We are asking children of all ages at Heathfield Primary to get involved so please don’t spend your time deleting work as this could be someone’s best efforts. Don’t be afraid to start typing, you’ll soon see that it is really fun and you will be amazed!! So..

Who’s going to start us off?

Please make a comment if you have an idea on what the story could be about!
